St. Vincent DePaul Conference Mission Statement

Inspired by Gospel values, the members and staff of the Dayton District Council, through its Conferences and Special Works, grow in spirituality by providing person-to-person emergency assistance and supportive services to the poor, homeless, and unemployed populations of our community, as well as to people who need assistance during unexpected life crises.

Today the Dayton District Council has 30 Parish Conferences located throughout the Miami Valley from Troy to Miamisburg. If you are looking for a conference, you can see the complete list.

By becoming a member of your Parish Conference you can join other Vincentians who show a common concern for the needy members of your community. You can make a difference! Conference members reach out to those in need right in their own Parish Community. Vincentians discover they can have more fun than they ever expected while doing good for people who need love and attention.

What does it take to become a member? Contact the president of your local Parish Conference and tell him/her you are interested in learning more about the conference.

What about meetings? Members attend regularly scheduled meetings which last about an hour. An agenda allows for opening and closing prayers, a spiritual reflection, and a discussion of the conference’s ongoing activities.

Typical conference activities include responding to phone calls of those with needs, making home visits, and becoming involved in the conference’s annual service and support projects.

How do conferences get money to support their activities? All conferences are supported by regular collections taken up within their Parish. In addition, the Dayton District Council is able to provide additional financial support as needed.
