St. Vincent de Paul operates two 24/7 Gateway Shelters, the 220-bed St. Vincent de Paul Gateway for Women & Families and the 178-bed Gettysburg Gateway for Men.  The Gettysburg location also offers 60 sleeping mats for extra capacity when needed.

St. Vincent de Paul provides our guests with:

  • A safe, clean environment in which to sleep and take a shower
  • Three meals a day plus snacks
  • Laundry facilities
  • Needed clothing and personal care items
  • An address and a phone number at which they can receive mail and phone messages
  • After-school tutoring for school-age children
  • A starter kit when housing is found to re-establish their home with household items including dishes, glassware, utensils, pots and pans, towels, sheets and if available, small appliances.

Onsite, housing-focused, case management services are provided at both Gateway Shelters by our partner, Homefull.

Each month, over 700 volunteers assist our staff sorting donations of food, clothing, linens, personal care and household items; preparing and serving meals, laundering linens, answering phones, sorting mail and attending to guest needs.  To join our volunteer team, please contact Melissa Pangaean at (937) 461-7837, ext. 103.

Guests may check-in at anytime at the appropriate Gateway Shelter.
